Earthship buildings and Rio Grande Gorge Bridge in Taos by Poff
November 11, 2010
These "Earthship"homes are made of 98% recycled materials. They reuse water four times. They use tires filled with dirt for the walls. They stucco smooth walls over the tires. They have cistern wells to catch the rain water. They have live growing plants inside the house to create oxygen and provide food. They use solar and wind energy to provide electicity. The houses cost $200.00 a square foot to build, yet their utility bills are less than $100.00 a year.
The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is the second highest suspension bridge in the U.S.! It is 650 feet above the Rio Grande River.
We are off to Mesa Verde tomorrow! Hope everyone is great! Peace!
